Style steal: A London family home full of colour, personality – and an indoor playhouse

I don’t know about you, but both Charlotte and I enjoy a good nosey around other people’s houses, looking for ideas to replicate in our own homes. We find it super useful to see a “real home” – looking at what the homeowners (and their designers) have done to solve the problem of an awkward room shape, or how they’ve chosen to add colour to a space, for example. In today’s style steal, designed by 2LG Studio (@2lgstudio), we’re touring the house of a couple who needed more space to accommodate their busy lives, as well as a home that would evoke a sense of fun and play for them and their three young children. We hope you enjoy!

Restore period details, while also adding a modern touch

The owners were keen to respect the lovely period elements of the home, such as the ornate coving, cornices and ceiling roses, while also reflecting the modern style of the family who live there. Which is why you can see circle motifs and wiggle shapes throughout the home in the stair carpets, play house, wallpaper, mirrors, kitchen cabinetry, lighting, furniture and soft furnishings. It’s a clever way of adding a playful touch to a traditional-style house.
