Anyone else never really finish a DIY project? What does a finished project actually mean?

I’ve shown you various rooms in my family home reno. My husband Charlie and I have “completed” two bathroom updates, a master bedroom/home office makeover and we’ve decorated our daughter Lily’s bedroom. We’ve also laid new engineered wood flooring in three bedrooms. I’ve shown you the before and after pics. But truth be told, the rooms aren’t totally complete.

While I'm super proud of the DIY jobs we've done in 2024, they're not all entirely complete!

Is it because I’m a perfectionist, so I feel the need to keep making small changes? NO! It’s because I have a nasty habit of starting a project and then moving on to the next one before I’ve completed the first one. I get started on a project, reality kicks in, things become challenging, I get distracted, I get excited by something shiny and new and before I know it…yep, you guessed it… I move onto the next DIY project!

My husband Charlie hates it when, on a Friday morning, I ask the question: “Shall we do a bit of DIY this weekend?” Because he knows I’m about to suggest starting something new.
